Origin of Christmas
Christmas is a celebration meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Christmas focuses on the humble beginnings of the Son of God being born into the flesh. The Christmas story comes from passages in the books of Matthew and Luke in the bible. In a shortened version it tells of a young couple Joseph and Mary. An angel tells Mary she will have a son which will be the son of God. There is a census in their land and must go to the hometown of Joseph. When they arrive there are no rooms to stay in so someone lets them stay in their stable with their animals. Jesus is born there and laid in a manger. Some Magi, or Wiseman, and Shepherds were instructed by angels to journey to bring gifts to the King of Kings. (For the full story read Mathew 1-2 and Luke 2).
